Myra Krien is Coming to Reno in September!!

Join Asha World Dancers, and the Reno Bellydance Community in welcoming Santa Fe Belly Dancer and Instructor, Myra Krien! We will be presenting belly dance extravaganza “Feast of Hathor” featuring our special guest artist Myra Krien. We will also be welcoming Slow Djinn Fez back to the stage as well as many local belly dance favorites the night of Friday September 24th at the Mckinley Arts Center at 925 Riverside Dr. in Reno. Doors open at 7:00, show starts at 7:30, admission is $10.00.

After an evening of amazing dance, we know you will be inspired to take one or both of Myra Krien’s Tribal Fusion workshops at the Evelyn Mount Community Center, 1301 Valley Rd. Reno. Classes will be held Saturday, September 25th and are two hours each, one at 9am, another at noon. They are $44 per class or $75 for both. Belly Dancers from beginning to experienced will be welcome.

“Myra Krien is a renowned Middle Eastern dance artist, an international performer, choreographer and teacher of belly dance. Krien has performed on some of Americas most prestigious stages, toured internationally, performed for PBS and Japanese television and been reviewed by national publications such as Dance Magazine, Bliss and the Santa Fean. After returning to her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico she opened her school of dance, Pomegranate Studios, founded Pomegranate SEEDs (Self-esteem, Empowerment and Education through Dance) a non-profit youth mentorship program and her state-of-the-art fitness program Funk-Ex.”

Kendesh and Nouri of Asha have been working toward the goal of bringing Myra to the Truckee Meadows since an inspiring workshop with her in July of last year. We’re looking forward to being able to share our experience of this amazing instructor and lovely lady now with all of you.

Kami Liddle Here for Artown…

Join Asha World Dancers, and the Reno Bellydance Community in welcoming former Asha Troupe member and current International Bellydance Superstar, Kami Liddle for an Artown Hot Tribal Fusion weekend.  We present a Tribal Fusion Bellydance Hafla & show featuring Kami at the Laxalt Auditorium on Friday, July 30, and Two Tribal Fusion Inspired Bellydance Workshops on Saturday, July 31, 2010.  The event on Friday will begin at 7:00 PM, and the workshops on Saturday will begin at 10:00 AM.

“Kami Liddle has studied various dance styles throughout her life, but found her true passion is Belly Dance when she was 18 years old.  As a soloist, she incorporates into her American Tribal Style Bellydance repertoire elements of Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Bhangra dance forms.  Zaghareet Magazine nominated Kami “Best Interpretive Artist” for both 2005, and 2007.  Kami joined the internationally acclaimed Bellydance Superstars in 2005, and has traveled the globe sharing her art.  She is a contributing choreographer with BDSS, as well as the Director of the Tribal Superstars.”

Artown is a month long arts festival in Reno, Nevada that runs from July 1 – July 31 every year, which boasts more than 400 citywide exhibits and performances, coordinating more than 100 presenting organizations.  In 2009, 309,000 attendees participated in Artown.

Valentine's Day Hafla

You are all invited to join us in dance, and merriment on February 13th, 2010 for a very special “From the Heart” Hafla, and to share with us the launch of a new SEEDs (Self-esteem, Empowerment, & Education through Dance) program being inaugurated in northern Nevada.

This venue is open-floor style. Dancers can register beginning at 6.  There is buffet food service, and the establishment is roomy and family friendly.  Plenty of off-steet parking.  Your shimmies will add very special ju-ju towards our endeavors!

Halloween fun at the Haunted Ranch!

Asha World Dancers & Friends will bring Halloween fun to the Huffaker Harvest Festival at Bartley Ranch Ampitheatre Stage on Sunday Oct. 25 around between 2PM -4PM.  Performances by A Wing & a Prayer Modern Dance Company, Black Rose Troupe, Hipswitch, Rabia and Asha, will bring hallowing , vintage-vaudvillian delights and frights to the Hawkins stage.
This ticketed event is a fundraiser for Huffaker Elementary School and also features a live musical cake walk and a  Scare Crow Auction. Festival hrs 12:00 to 5:PM Tickets can be purchased for $5.00 from Huffaker P.T.A. 775-848-7203.

VERY IMPORTANT!  Tickets can’t be purchased at the gate but must be purchased in advance through the Huffaker P.T.A.
